  • Differences Between Hair Transplantation and Eyebrow Transplantation

Hair transplantation is a procedure to increase hair growth in different areas, be it the scalp, beard or eyebrows. The main purpose of hair transplant procedures is to increase a person's self-confidence by enhancing the way they look.

While many people suffer from hair loss, many are also dissatisfied with the appearance of their eyebrows. Although hair transplantation and eyebrow transplantation share the same goal, there are major differences between the two methods. Read on to learn more about these procedures and their differences.

What is a hair transplant procedure?

Hair transplantation is a minimally invasive procedure that focuses on solving problems such as thinning hair, hair loss and receding hairlines. Basically, this procedure involves taking healthy hair grafts from the donor area and implanting them into the problematic area.

How is the hair transplant procedure performed?

There are different methods of performing hair transplantation: FUT, FUE and DHI. While FUT hair transplant is the oldest and least preferred procedure as it leaves a large permanent scar, FUE and DHI are what people want.

In the other methods, the healthy hair grafts are taken directly from the donor area and implanted into the recipient area. With this technique, instead of large linear scars, tiny scars are created that are barely visible and disappear completely once the hair has grown back.

As for the implantation part of the hair transplantation procedure, the FUE method involves incisions to receive the harvested grafts, while the DHI method uses the Choi Implanter Pen. This technology facilitates the implantation process and does not require a complete shaving of the head, as the implantation of the hair grafts can be done with the hair already present.

What is an eyebrow transplant procedure?

Eyebrow transplantation is a procedure that improves the hair growth of a person's eyebrows. There are patients who are not satisfied with the way their eyebrows look because they hardly have a recognisable eyebrow shape due to minimal hair growth, so they opt for eyebrow transplantation to solve this problem.

How is the eyebrow transplant performed?

At EHT, we perform eyebrow transplantation using the DHI method. The procedure begins with shaving a small portion of the donor area to extract 400 to 500 hair grafts. Using the Choi Implanter Pen, the healthy hair grafts are implanted into the eyebrow area according to the agreed eyebrow shape.

Who needs to get a hair transplant procedure?

Patients with hair loss tend to undergo hair transplantation, but there are certain indications that must be taken into account before deciding to undergo hair transplantation. For example, it is advisable to wait until the age of 25 before undergoing hair transplantation, because by the age of 25 the hair loss pattern has stabilized and the results of hair transplantation are better.

Hair loss is a worldwide problem, and the reasons are many: it can be genetic, but it can also be caused by certain medications or a stressful lifestyle. In order to undergo hair transplantation, one must have a sufficient donor area and be in good health. If the patient suffers from chronic diseases such as heart disease, kidney or liver failure or diabetes, hair transplantation may not be possible.

Who needs to get an eyebrow transplant procedure?

Eyebrows have always been part of the “trend race", and now that natural eyebrows are the new and eternal trend, those who have exhausted their eyebrows with extra plucking until they have caused irreversible damage to their eyebrows. An eyebrow transplant can repair the damage and give them hope for natural looking eyebrows.

Also, there are patients who have thin eyebrows due to genetic problems, and this can be solved by the eyebrow transplant procedure.

How to prepare for hair transplant and eyebrow transplant procedures?

Since both procedures have the same concept of extraction and implantation, they are also prepared in the same way. The patient must stop drinking and smoking 14 days before the procedure. Stopping blood thinning medications is important to minimize the risk of bleeding during the procedure. To ensure a smooth procedure and recovery period, you should protect your scalp and face from sunburn.

Make sure that you communicate with your doctor about your medical history and what medications you take regularly. Good preparation for the procedure, whether it is a hair transplant or eyebrow transplant, paves the way for the best results.
