Hair Transplant Procedure
Latest Hair Transplant Procedures Are Here To Stay Longer
Every man dreams to have thick and healthy hair. Unfortunately, some men experience hair loss and baldness at the early stage which also causes them to lose their confidence as well. They feel awkward joining the social gatherings and mixing up with other men of their age.
However, thinning of hair or baldness is no longer a matter of concern for men. The emergence of the latest hair transplant procedures not only help men with hair problems restore their locks back but also let them regain their lost confidence.
A hair transplant procedure is basically a kind of surgery that aims at restoring permanent hair with the implantation of new follicles onto the recipient's scalp. In this surgery, the grafts with follicles are taken from donor areas (i.e. areas with thicker hair, mostly back of the head). Though women can be candidates of hair transplants, this procedure mainly helps male pattern baldness.
Typically, there are 2 most recommended hair transplant procedures that work amazingly with the best results: one is Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS) and another is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Depending on your particular requirements and medical history, the expert will recommend you either of these methods. However, it is important to have detailed information about the hair transplant procedure that you are about to go through.
Let's take a detailed look at both the hair transplant methods.
Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS)
The FUSS is a kind of hair transplant procedure in which the surgeon harvests the follicular units from the scalp by taking out a strip of 6-10 inch skin with lots of follicles from the back side of the head. Depending on the quality, type and size of the recipient area, the skin strip is then cut into 500 to 2000 grafts with each graft containing single or more hair follicular to be implanted.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
During the FUE hair transplant procedure, each follicular unit with 1-4 hair is taken from the back of the scalp in a separate run. Seemingly, FUE is a time consuming and complicated method for hair transplantation but it is better than other methods as it forms tiny dots at the donor area instead of leaving a linear scar.
When it comes to the grafting stage, it's just same in the both the hair transplant procedures. The surgeon will adopt the same way as he did at pre-harvesting phase. He will use needles to make small holes at the recipient area and implant a graft into each tiny hole.
The process of grafting follicular is really delicate and time consuming. As the matter of fact, the number of grafts required for the transplant depends on the size of the recipient site. Typically, an average hair transplant procedure requires 1000-3000 follicular grafts while the perfect transplantation will contain 4000 grafts to achieve a full head of thick hair. When it comes to the duration, the grafting follicles process for each hair transplant procedure takes 5 to 10 hours to complete the job.
Stages of Hair Transplant Procedure
Irrespective of the surgical method, every hair transplant procedure involves 2 stages: harvesting and grafting. Your doctor will inject the local anesthesia into your scalp after giving it a thorough cleansing with an antibacterial shampoo.
